The Academy's vision is for our students to be passionate followers of Christ and well-trained servant leaders. Students from TK - 12th grade put their faith into action by serving others. By the time they graduate, seniors complete at least 100 service hours. More than that, service is a core value in the hearts of the leadership, teachers, students, and volunteers at the Academy. The love of Christ is expressed in big and small ways throughout campus, to the local community and on a summer mission trip to New Orleans.
Student Leadership University is one of the most impactful opportunities available to Academy students. The vision of SLU is to train up a generation of leaders who will effectively engage their world on all levels with a contagious passion for Christ in a manner that is also full of both grace and truth.
Three groups travel each summer:
SLU 101 (rising sophomores) go to Orlando
SLU 201 (rising juniors) go to Washington, D.C.
SLU 301 (rising seniors) got o London, Oxford, and Normandy
Each group not only tours these locations, but hears from world-renowned speakers about leadership.
SLU 201 really gave me perspective on the U.S.. It gave many of us a new drive to keep fighting for the Christian roots of our country. Joshua Dean, Class of 2023
Each summer, a group of high school students, staff, and alumni travel to New Orleans for a mission trip with Mission Lab. This trip ties together what students are taught throughout their time at the Academy and has a huge impact on their faith as they serve alongside one another.
I am so grateful for Whitesburg Christian Academy and the opportunities it has given me to serve Jesus. I have been blessed to have this experience and serve the people of New Orleans and to also be served by them. Everyone has a story to tell. We told our stories and in return, we heard stories of those we met. The people I met brought so much joy into my life and forever changed me. If you ever get the opportunity to take this mission trip, take it. You will not regret it.
At Whitesburg Christian Academy we believe our students are never too young to put their faith into action by serving others. Grammar School students participate in service projects to help the Huntsville Pregnancy Resource Center, the homeless community, the local animal shelters, and Whitesburg Baptist Church’s Food Bank to name a few. Our servant leadership initiatives help meet the changing needs of our community and various neighborhoods. This ministry driven focus culminates in 6th grade with our Joy to the World Missions Market.
Through the Joy to the World Missions Market, 6th grade students are invited to be a part of something bigger than themselves. They work hard to create quality, homemade items and sell them to the community in December. They learn that when they bring what they have to God, He does incredible things. In 2022, they raised over $19,000! Teachers lead students through seeking God in prayer about where to donate the proceeds. They have been able to bless many organizations since the first sale in 2018! Some ministries that have received donations are: Rose of Sharon Soup Kitchen, Clearview Cancer Institute, Positive Adult Learning Support, Pregnancy Crisis Center, Graces of Gurley, House of Hope Orphanage in Haiti, Mission Driven Ministries for Nepal, New Hope Children’s Clinic, St. Jude, the 6th Grade Meal Ministry and many more. Sixth graders also enjoy volunteering in local ministries that are supported by Joy to the World. Students learn to expect the Lord to work in ways beyond what they can ask or imagine. They come to appreciate firsthand the JOY of serving! Joy to the World is a memorable highlight of the Academy experience.
