Chapel
Students from TK-12th grade experience Chapel at the Academy. Chapel is a highlight of each week with worship, prayer and Bible teaching. Grammar School Chapel gives younger students an opportunity to discover a heart for worship, pray together and learn Bible lessons from teachers, our very own upper school students and faith leaders in the community. Upper School Chapel gives older students an opportunity to lead and encourage others in their faith through student testimonies, peer mentoring and the student-led praise band.
Prayer Warriors
Prayer is a daily part of students’ lives. Little Warriors share prayer requests each day
and learn to pray for one another. Throughout Grammar School, students memorize a Bible verse each week and talk about different ways to pray as well as the power of prayer. In Upper School, students begin class in prayer and often pray for each other, others and the world. It is common to see a group of students huddled in the hallway praying together, for teachers to take time out of their classrooms to pray, and for sports teams to pray before and after games, sometimes with the opposing team.
The Academy family also gathers as an entire school community for See You at the Pole and the ASCI National Day of Prayer to pray specific Scriptures for our school, community and nation. Before each school year begins, teachers gather to pray over each student by name and the administration then prays for each teacher. Decisions big and small are made through prayer, and God answers in ways beyond what we could ask or imagine. Prayer is a daily part of life for everyone at the Academy.
Learning God's Word
The Bible is taught every day as a core subject just as math, science, language arts, and history are. Bible is taught in an age appropriate way in every grade, to include scripture memorization, content knowledge, and application in the student’s everyday life. The foundation laid in lower school carries into high school where our students receive a near seminary quality education in Old Testament survey, New testament survey, Major Doctrines, and a senior class that includes Biblical Worldview compared to other worldviews and Christianity compared to other religions. Coupled with our high school Rhetoric class (the art of persuasion in writing and speaking) our students are well prepared to carry their faith into our culture, to present it clearly, and defend it against other worldviews and religions.
Mrs. McCartney and her Bible students offer activities based upon scripture to help people of all ages overcome anxiety, worry, and stress. Find their podcast, The Cure, on Spotify.
