Something big is always happening at The Academy, but something very big is about to happen.

The Academy is excited to announce that we are in the process of architectural design for the next building project for our campus.  This project will be a dedicated space for our award winning music program, to include grammar music, middle and high school choir, and band.  Music classes are currently taught in the Martha Fleming building and the modular Chapel space.  The most exciting part of this announcement is that this project will eventually result in at least six additional classrooms.   The heartbeat of The Academy has always been our outstanding faculty teaching smaller classes, and that means even more classrooms.

The building will be tornado safe, providing safe space for current and future classrooms.  This will allow the grammar tornado safe spaces to be converted to four classrooms.  The vacated music and band rooms will also be converted to three classrooms.

The music building will be located adjacent to the Warrior Arena, allowing grammar students direct access from the gym without going outside.  The current playground space will eventually provide space for a new cafeteria and additional classrooms, allowing us to remove current modular buildings.

The floor plan contains large spaces for grammar music, upper and middle school choir, and band rooms.  There will be offices, work rooms, individual and ensemble practice rooms, and generous storage for instruments, uniforms, and a music library.  The exact design is still a work in progress.

In the 2020-2021 school year, The Academy had 63 classrooms and 632 students.   We will start the 2026-2027 school year with 985 students and 66 classrooms, an increase of 353 students, but only 3 classrooms.

The estimated cost of this project is about $8 million.  Parameters for best business practices for non-profit institutions recommend long term debt not to exceed the amount of one year's operating expense.  To maintain our strong financial position, we need to raise $4 million to proceed with this project.  We have covered design costs and it will take about 4-6 months to complete the drawings and obtain state approval.  This means that to move forward, we need to raise 50% of the cost by July 2026.

With our class sizes approaching 80-90 students, we must realize that in the next 10 years 800-900 passionate followers of Christ and well trained servant leaders will be launched into our culture.  Your gift is not an investment in buildings but an investment in future warriors infiltrating every facet of our culture.

"Eye has not seen, nor ear heard, nor have entered into the heart of man the things which God had prepared for those who love Him."  (1 Corinthians 2:9)

We would love your help in naming our newest building!
