AI Scholars Live Online: Artificial Intelligence Intensive for High School Students.

At Inspirit AI, students participate in live online video sessions where they work in small groups (4:1 student-instructor ratio) with mentors from MIT and Stanford to learn the fundamentals of artificial intelligence, participate in critical discussions about ethical implications, and develop a socially impactful project in domains such as healthcare, media, art and more. Students can apply their diverse interests to trace different strains of COVID-19, identify exoplanets using NASA datasets, prevent the spread of fake news online, conduct algorithmic stock trading, and more. Students of all levels (from complete beginners to advanced coders) in grades 9 to 12 are invited to apply here by April 30th for our spring or summer sessions. Check out their brochure.

Common App: Earlier this month, Common App announced that the 2021-2022 essay prompts will remain the same, with one exception.

We will retire the seldom used option about solving a problem and replace it with the following:

Reflect on something that someone has done for you that has made you happy or thankful in a surprising way. How has this gratitude affected or motivated you?

We hope that this new prompt will inspire impactful student stories, and spark a bit of joy.

Samford University’s McWhorter School of Pharmacy:

A career in pharmacy is a natural fit for students who have a love of science and a passion for caring for others. With COVID-19, pharmacists not only served on the frontlines—being one of the most accessible health care professionals to the community—but they now play a critical role in the distribution of COVID-19 vaccines. As the profession continues to make headlines, you may have students ask you: Is pharmacy right for me?

At Samford, we offer a prepharmacy curriculum, which allows students to complete the required prerequisites within two years before entering pharmacy school. With our traditional application process, prepharmacy students can apply and be accepted to McWhorter School of Pharmacy during their sophomore year. But through our early assurance program, qualified students can apply and be accepted to McWhorter School of Pharmacy as a high school senior.

I encourage you to visit our prepharmacy website to learn more.

I recognize that this has been a year like no other, but know that I am here to be a resource for you and your students. If you would like to learn more about career opportunities within pharmacy for your students, I would be happy to schedule a conversation over the phone or by Zoom.
