Laura Beth Barnes teaches Upper School English, Rhetoric, and a Dual Enrollment English class for Calhoun in the Academy Upper School. Mrs. Barnes grew up in Madison and earned her Bachelor of Science degree in Secondary Education, English, and History from Auburn University and her Master’s in Secondary English Language Arts from the University of Alabama. She has many years of teaching experience at Liberty Middle School in Madison and as adjunct English instructor for Calhoun University. She also served as Secondary English Education University Supervisor at the University of Alabama Huntsville in 2015-16. Laura Beth and her husband, Clint, have two children – Sam and Lucy. She loves spending time with family and friends, exercising, snow skiing, drinking coffee, and walking her two pugs, Cleo and Cash. She and Clint attend Rivertree Church. Her favorite Bible verses are Esther 4:14 and Philippians 4:6.
